I just saw Suicide Club last night and after browsing through some J-horror titles, I wanna watch more! I'll probably end up joining Netflix cause teh video stores in my town are major suckage when it comes to selection. I'mma watch Battle Royale, Ichi teh Killer, Ju-on, etc. Especially Dr. Lamb and teh Untold Story. Those two flicks sound rockesh. Anyways... Suicide Club: Had me really creeped out. I was nervous when teh movie started cause I read about teh opening scene, I just didn't know how gruesome it would get. BPWM and I were laughing at Genesis though (I read an online review calling him a cross between Eddie Izzard and Dr. Frank-n-furter, which is so true). Still, Suicide Club was pretty disturbing at teh least.

My friend Allison said Ichi wasn't that good...and I think Raven echoed teh sentiment, or else I think I'm hearing things.

yep, and I'll echo it again. it was boring. surprisingly enough, 'cause both teh star and teh director are pretty nuts. if you just wanna watch some shit that'll trip you out, by that same director, check out Dead or Alive... but I'm glad you said Suicide Club was good, 'cause I've been wondering. =)

cool! had you seen Midnight Eye before? their reviews are very frank; they hold Japanese cinema to teh same standard as any other genre, instead of being worshipful just because it's Japanese.

Rockesh site, I'mma look at it more later. I think Imma view other genres in asian films. One comedy that seems promising is My Little Bride (a title like that in teh US would point towards a Jerry Lee Lewis biopic [sorry, so lame I couldn't resist]).

***If you don't want Hero ruined (not spoiled, there's a difference) for you, don't read this.***
teh word that immediately comes to mind is beautiful. teh fight scenes, teh portrayals of characters and relationships, teh imagery in general... beautiful. teh plot, I will grant, is nothing extraordinary... I didn't really mind it, though, until it started to drag a bit at teh end. My major complaint is that it took itself far too seriously. I'm a light-hearted spirit, and there was nothing light-hearted about this movie... not that it was all gloom-and-doom, but I almost cried at several points, and never came close to cracking a smile (though my jaw did drop on many occasions).
All in all, I'm glad I paid teh 6 bucks to see it, but I'd be kinda irked if I'd paid $8.50.

Hmmm.... I think I'll add it to my list of movies to see at teh $2 theater. I read a review of it today, but it's not really a movie I hafta see in a movie with high tech sound and such. So this, and Napoleon Dynamite are on my $2 list.
And I might go see dodgeball again, just cuz it's sooo good and it's still in teh theater there!

I damn sure wish I was when I went to see it. teh people I was with damn-near tossed outta a speeding car for making them see that shit. That is teh type of movie that you goto see when you wanna screw in teh movies. *mumble*wish I would've thought of that before*mumble*

You were high and/or drunk when you say that movie, weren't you? I damn sure wish I was when I went to see iit.actually wasn't, for once =P I'd be interested to know what you found so horrible about it, though. That's two people now that've seen it & hated it emphatically, without giving substantial reason(s).

actually wasn't, for once =P I'd be interested to know what you found so horrible about it, though. That's two people now that've seen it & hated it emphatically, without giving substantial reason(s). I'll gladly give you some reasons for my hatred. Reasons for Hating 'Hero':
- teh total lack of action
- teh fight on teh water scene
- Jet Li killed Nobody throughtout that entire movie
- teh ending sucked teh big one
- teh entire movie was a flashback, actually, serval flashbacks
- I paid evening rates for that piece of shit
- When QT and Let Li are involved in a movie, you come to expect things. Sadly, this movie was lacking in all categories befitting teh reps of those two.
- Noone to screw to pass teh time
I can't speak for Finn, but those are most of my reasons. I tried to leave out some of teh reasons that would tell too much about teh movie. Thinking about this movie saddens me greatly. I think I will go sit in a dark corner and cry.

**spoilerish, sorta--if you plan on seeing Hero, I wouldn't read this**
lack of action...? dude-- damn near teh whole freakin' movie was action. Finn's immediate complaint when we left teh movie was that teh plot just seemed like an excuse to string together a whole bunch of fights.
I kinda feel ya on teh water scene though. I get annoyed when things are extremely unrealistic without explanation...had teh same issue with Crouching Tiger.
I could really give two shits how many people Jet Li killed, but along those lines, I was really fucking irked by teh fact that there was no blood. g-bus man, when you're skewering people left & right, make it fuckin' believable!! but then again, I am a gore whore, so maybe others found teh exclusion tasteful (...or something).

Anyway, that no blood thing really burnt my biscuits, and I'm still getting my ideas dismissed for suggesting that movie Personally, teh fight scenes were rather empty. I won't even go into what was wrong with that chick (Snow, I believe was her name) using wind attacks and playing with teh leaves And yes, teh death-toll does matter, damnit!
