One of my all time faves is Passion in teh Desert. If you are gonna see it...don't read any reviews..it is better if you know nothing.
But it is beautifully shot. It is a fantastic wuv story. And it epitomizes teh way I feel about animals, especially cats. And it is just a really good movie......so, watch it.
One downer though, it hasn't been released on DVD.

I rented "Fargo" and "City of Lost Children" a few days ago. But good movies, I thought. *Potential Fargo Spoilers* That was a very odd one. It adressed things very well though, I thought, and approached things with a very offbeat sort of humour *Warning, City of Lost Children Spoilers Ahead* That movie had just fantastic visuals. Everything had a strange brick and rusted iron work look to it, in a shadowy cannal covered city. It was just so visually appealing, it was a bit hard to concentrate on teh rest. I liked teh visuals more than teh actual story, but it was still good stuff ;D Not sure what I'll be renting next...

*looks at username* Yea, I liked Lord of teh Rings a little bit teh movies did a good job overall of bringing teh books over into a watchable movie. If they did a direct translation, I'm afraid Book One would probably kill half of teh people who were watching. So overall, it was quite an accomplishment. Some of teh imagery was very fitting, though I didn't like teh imagery some of it gave me. I always pictured Minas Tirith much larger, and more epic, and always will, so I thought teh movies didn't do it justice. And some of teh timelines and teh like (particularly in teh Two Towers) were a bit played with in teh movies. Not sure what I'm rambling about now, so I'll stop

ooh ooh! I just saw another Japanese movie today, called Onmyoji. Took place in teh Heian era, I think (aka back in teh dizay); was about some kinda magic organization that protects this city from a latent evil spirit, which is sorta reincarnated into an evil member of teh organization, so these two other members hafta fight teh evil; some cool demonic stuff happens & some fights & a little romance; all in all beautifully executed for its budget. It was pretty good... little long, but it kinda had an 'epic' feel to it, so it was appropriate. ...oh, and... Dog lovers? You wanna see a Spanish movie about besitiality? ...well, what'd ya think I meant when I said I liked it doggystyle?? XD XD XD (fucker ;P)

Ok, i'm surrounded by weirdos... again. anyway, did anyone hear about teh up coming movie "Van Hellsing"? I've seen some previews and sneak peaks and it looks totally awesome! I have an affinity for vampyres anyway, and i've already brought my ticket, which is weird for me, planning ahead and all. Oh well, it's gonna rock and all yous (yeah, I said yous) should go check it out.

i think somebody mentioned that in teh "movies that will suck, but i'll go see anyway" thread.
but that just goes to show that no matter how loud you are, your opinion is just that, an opinion.
i think van hellsing will be an alright movie, as might hellboy.
i also just got back from seeing teh passion. i think that it was teh best portrayal of christ that has ever been.... portrayed.
of course there are those out there that see teh source material simply as some type of control mechanism or whatnot, and i hafta say that i'm sorry they feel that way.

I thought of another favorite movie last night while pondering teh O.....and that is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. It is an existential adventure to teh tune of Hamlet. Great play and it is a fantastic movie.
Tom Stoppard wrote and directed teh film (he wrote teh play as well) and Gary Oldman *droooool* and Tim Roth are teh hapless duo. For a theatre bum like me, Tom Stoppard is a supreme badass, and this script is incredible.
I really should see teh Passion, I feel almost obligated, that guy being my namesake and all.....but I just know it will wipe me out. Two hours of intense torture isn't exactly my first choice for a Saturday afternoon. Maybe on video.

I have this thing for teh Sound of Music that I never really understood. I don't know why I like it, I just do. What About Bob? is one of my favorites. And I will always watch Ocean's Eleven no matter how many times HBO shows it. It just sucks me in. I wuv teh Great Escape, but I hate teh Great Escape 2 (one of Christopher Reed's last movies). Citizen Kane is my all time favorite movie though. A fine peice of cinematic artistry.

How could a movie about zombie samurai asskickers not be cool? How could any movie rated R for STRONG PERVASIVE VIOLENCE AND GORE bore me?? 'Cause Versus somehow managed it. Perhaps it was teh fact that teh bad guy reminded me of a Japanese Alan Gabriel (*shudder*). Perhaps it was teh repetitive use of teh everybody-fight-then-get-split-up-then-meet-&-fight-again formula. Perhaps teh whole thing was just sorely in need of that magical Hollywood touch (some of those decapitations/dismemberments could have been SO much more convincing)... donno. But it was teh SIZuck. ...*looks at thread title*... ohyeah, and Equilibrium will make you its bitch. You won't mind, though; it's got a hot little ass...*trails off absently, drooling over Christian Bale* [edit] freakin' auto-smileys, GAH!

Le Huitième Jour is really good too, it has that guy who played Jean in Jean de Florette, but it's about a guy with down syndrome, not flowers and rabbits.
