Every year our company does 2 houses. This is teh first time they've let me actually work on it though. It was worth it. I'm sore as hell, I'm so sunburned I look like a boiled lobster, and I feel like death warmed over. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It was worth it to give an unfortunate family their own home. Has anybody else done this?
Oh, and here's a picture of my arm.

I've always wondered about this...
who qualifies to get these homes? (pending your answer I have another question, too)

Seeing that sunburn makes me shiver. So much. If there's one thing I've learned from living in this craphole of a state most of my life, it's that if it's not totally grey outside, it's probably better to walk around with either a sweater or lots of sunscreen.
*shivers more at teh memory of sunburns*
Oh um, I think I'm doing something that involves Habitat for Humanity this Saturday. Or it may be March of Dimes. I'm not totally sure, but it's a nice gesture all teh same I guess, and it'll get me teh community service hours needed for graduation. *radiates good karma*

I'll look it up and find out for you. I know it has something to do with financially challenged families and such, but that's all I know really.

Yeah, I don't really know.. although I think taxes are covered in that it's a charitable organization and tax exempt... maybe... cuz they're not winning a prize so it's not teh same as if they had won it in a contest. teh tax laws would be different. Unless you meant property taxes. Well... these aren't built in teh most upscale neighborhoods if you know what I mean. I'll look into it, I didn't forget, I've just been busy.

Found it! teh people aren't "given" a house at all! They are given a mortgage at cost. That's why they have volunteers. To keep costs down.
