man, I remember almost every single one of these games... but c'mon, anything by LucasArts or Sierra isn't "lesser-known." might as well have just called this "retro games" (can't believe nobody mentioned Leisure Suit Larry, though... *tsks*) now, for some truly lesser-known games, has ANYONE on this planet besides me ever heard of a space turn-based strategy game called Ascendancy? fucking badass. (Apparently there was a semi-sequel to it called Tone Rebellion, which I never played, too.) and my favorite lesser-known game of all time has got to be Tongue of teh Fatman... Sega enthusiasts might remember it as Mondu's Fight Palace. fun & extremely eclectic, but hard as fuck (at least on PC). [edit: changed teh last link so you can see actual screenshots.]

Dropship for teh PS2.
I thought that one was awesome. It's really, really freakin' hard though, and teh frustration factor is like 'pop a vein in your forehead' type level and controls take a while to even get teh hang of. But I thought it was a cool game, all considered. Kinda an Action/Flight sim, you do a lot of what teh name describes, moving things around and giving them support (it sounds terribly boring...) but I thought it was really cool.
I also liked a Gun Griffon Blaze for teh PS2. Kind a one of those mech games, but it had something about it that made me really enjoy it.
And finally, Battle Engine Aquilla. I have this one for teh X-Box. Giant flying mech type thing, but has just a lot of stuff going on (most levels are pretty big and consist of dozens to hundreds of friendly and enemies beating each other up). Lots of stuff going boom pleases me though.
This one isn't really lesser known, just old now. Blast Corps for teh N64. That one was super cool.

I was gonna mention Leisure Suit Larry, but I didn't consider it to be a lesser known game.
Anybody ever heard of Hugo's House of Horrors? Kind of a lesser known, poor man's Maniac Mansion. But a fun game (actually it was a series, and teh 3rd one was teh only one I ever beat)
Oh, and shadowgate for teh original Nintendo. That was a good game too.

I just thought of cool game we used to play all teh time on teh Sega Genisis.. Wiz-n-Liz. You run around these worlds as either a wizard or a witch trying to catch Wabbist, collect letters and fruits. That one was fun, but hard.

i really liked destrega for teh ps1.
it was one of teh first 3d fighting games i had played, and it had dbz-like powerblast stuff, and i was really into dbz at teh time, so it was great.
i used to constantly play total annihilation for teh pc. it was maybe teh best/most fun strategy game i've ever played (i only did teh single player thing, though. online gaming was a big "wha?")
