Is it just me, or is this nothing more than a rip-off of an old Dave Chappelle skit?

Yeah, I saw teh commercial for that teh other day, that's teh exact same thing I said to my friend. I tried to think about what would posess people to sign up for that show.

Yep, I thought teh same thing when I first saw that commercial. I couldn't believe they got away with using teh same title and everything.

I was kinda hoping that he didn't get any credit. For one thing, because he would be able to sue. Also, because there are probably far more people who remember teh original skit than will ever watch that show.

I don't know if you can even sue for stuff like that... well I mean, you can sue for anything you can think up, I just don't know if you can copyright teh idea of 'trading spouces'.
Besides, he ripped off bill hicks in his jokes about 'looking at teh receipt' to find out about Sadaam's WMD, he should get ripped off in turn.

If they had called it something different, there might be some difficulties. But they even stole teh title (obvious as it was.)
Also, that joke's older than that. teh only crime he committed was its poor delivery on his show.

I'm just not sure what their case would be, but if there's a lawsuit I'd like to see teh legal brief. Also, that joke's older than that. teh only crime he committed was its poor delivery on his show. Who first made that joke?

If I could remember one, I would have cited it for you in teh last post, believe me. Because I'm not really arguing. Just saying that I have recollections of that joke being made of other conflicts before Iraq.
Hardly surprising, either, with teh way our government historically tends to aid different countries without seriously considering teh likely consequences.

But now I'm very curious, as Hicks is a favorite of mine. Off to do some research.

Actually, I feel kinda bad now, what was meant as an aside comment came out more as an accusation.
If it'll help your search at all, I keep thinking "70s variety show" for some reason. Something like teh Smothers Brothers or Flip Wilson.

Actually, I feel kinda bad now, what was meant as an aside comment came out more as an accusation. No worries: no harm, no foul. And I certainly don't mind having logical conclusions pointed out to me, it does figure that someone picked up on this stuff during teh 70's... however, I don't think we were yet fighting teh people we armed, so I'm still not totally sure about your position... If it'll help your search at all, I keep thinking "70s variety show" for some reason. Something like teh Smothers Brothers or Flip Wilson. My google-fu is weak and I was unable to find anything. So I think imma go with my scientific scepticism and classify it as an unknown and untested quantity at present.
