Reply with an "OK" when you have read this simply to let us know that you HAVE READ this thread. Those that do not reply to let us know that you have read this thread will be hounded by CLASP staff untill you are forced to comply so that we know that everyone has had a fair chance to see it.
It has come to our attention that there need to be some changes. When Saddy welcomed you to teh boards, it was with teh understanding that you would be posting on other boards as well. We have left teh RP threads pretty much alone untill now. Members of teh staff have been looking over teh RP threads and have found an alarming number of "off topic" posts. teh RP threads are to be used for RP. We have other threads located on teh site for random things and even an entire board dedicated to random silliness and chitchat. teh RP threads are fun to read and quite entertaining but weeding through all teh personal stuff that is located there is becoming quite tedious. In teh future, teh RP threads MUST be about RP. All posts that arent RP relates will result in a wet noodle beating for you and your cohort (no joke. Have you ever been beat with a wet noodle? It sucks.) or worse. teh locking thread mystery has been resolved. Its apparently a safeguard against spam attacks. Too many posts flooding a thread results in an automatic lockdown. You RPers post faster than rabbits breed and therefore, teh feature kicks in to protect teh boards. CLASP is a COMMUNITY of people that have teh same interests and we like to see teh people that have teh same interests post in other places too. Its a slap in teh face to see RPers come and use this site for ONLY RP reasons and say "screw Saddy and teh rest of us and teh boards". I don't go to AS anymore, at all. I abhor that place and everything it now stands for. I would like to see more people here and get to know you (as do teh rest of teh mods) since I don't go there anymore but thats pretty much impossible if teh only places you're posting are in teh RP threads. We don't like to set these rules, but at teh same time, this can't be your own little community. This is a commune of RPers, a "clique" if you will, and it seems that most of you have no desire to associate with teh rest of us. There are people that post on CLASP that have no interest in RP but who wish to be able to communicate and get to know you. If you do not desire that, its fine, talk to whom ever you want. Keep in mind though that posts from now on will be kept "ON TOPIC" in each thread. Meaning if it's not about that particular RP thread then it doesnt belong there. Find teh appropriate thread and put it there. We won't be post dictators, REASONABLE off topic posts will be mildly tolerated, but more than two or three per three pages will upset teh monster that Doose of the Pink Panties and Acid have hidden behind teh image on teh front page. It eats off topic posts if there are too many. (that thing scares me and I heard that FinnAgain pissed it off so it ate him) You need to come outta teh RP boards and blow teh stink off you. (play on phrases for you younger kids) A few of you do this already (you know who you are, you speak to teh non RPers on teh rest of teh boards) but teh ones that have built a moat are about to be invaded! Har har har! (I kid, I kid) Seriously though P A R T I C I P A T E!!! If you have any complaints, address them to Kenna so she can give you directions on how to deal with them. Thanks ever so much, Your loving and totally awesome (not to mention sexah) CLASP staff. (dont forget to post your "OK")

I see where you are coming from but I hafta give my own rant in response to this.
Sometimes as we bring in new characters than no one else is familiar with, or points of looking at an old idea in a new light, there will almost always be an "off topic" chatty-ness following with it until everyone understands what whoever is taking about. (I'm currently experiencing this with my little story in teh RP.)
Also... as much as I would LIKE to participate in teh other boards and topics... I really don't have much to say about them as I'm not very political, into movies or music all that much. Heck... I've also almost given up hope for AS... all I watch on that anymore is teh new Inu yasha eps and FMA, as everything else seems to bore me to death. I do however TRY to participate in topics where I can and comment in teh other boards. However its not as easy as you would think, espeically for someone like me whose interests are very scattered and specialized. I try my best to get involved in other topics... and I do read teh other topics... Its just I can't think of anything to say... intelligent or otherwise. And one word posts of "yep" or simply "I agree with so-and-so" anoy teh heck outta me so I don't post them.
I've been REALIZING that we are a bit "secluded" in our own little "click" and TRYING to get more involved... but it seems I have very little in common with anyone here, even in teh RP even though I'm a very active participant in it. Do you realize how hard it is to talk about something you have no interest in or know nothing about?
Okay... I"m shutting up now as I've run outta things to say.

Its not that I don't venture into teh other threads, I just don't comment...mostly I have nothing of value to say.....shocking I know. I skim them and read interesting sounding topics but never really have much to say. I don't do any major rping either....I just kinda run around causeing mischief with Chibi because she wanted me to come play here with her....Otherwise I really don't do boards.....I prefer email RPG ^.^*
While a lot that goes on here is RP type its also a lot of stand alone things....teh posts get more "RPG" whenever theres a party or something, but this thread isn't much like any other RPG I've ever done....and even our "Off Topic" conversations are really roleplaying since we ourselves are IN teh RPG. Even when just commenting to some "OT" conversation I write it as a rpg a lot of times. I involve my RP charas most of teh time and Chibi and I fight each other, but we don't write teh long "RPposts" like everyone else......takes too much thought for a mangaka like me....I prefer to show rather than try to explain -.-
So would Chibi and I be kicked outta here because we don't play like everyone else?
Lookit me ramble......>.<

I hafta agree with Emi, except on point on a more personal basis of teh posting in teh rest of teh boards. Where I post in teh boards is directly dependant on who is online at teh time, how much time I have, and things like that. Therefore, I do post on teh other boards a lot, but a lot of times it just doesn't happen because, well, it just isn't fun. As for saying "Okay" that is against my, err.., well, something which for me is pretty dang close to religion in importance, without actually being religion.

Okay.......
I feel thoroughly chastised, as I have noticed we seem to be "chatting" more than RP-ing lately, and I am one of teh WORST offenders for not participating in other Threads---
Does it make any difference if I say that I'm so pressed for time that that is one of teh MAIN reasons I don't participate more.....?
I HAVE made teh effort to post in other subject Threads, and I don't mean to be so......"unfriendly"(?), but sometimes a subject just dwindles out, and then I don't know what to say next.....
ANYWAY--what I'm TRYING to say, is that I WILL make a determined effort to be more involved in general, as I can, what with time constraints and teh fact that my real life is DREADFULLY BORING, so I don't usually have much to "share" about it......
Sorry that we have become a "problem" again--it was NOT intentional, I ASSURE you!

Yeah, I'm with stampers on teh time issue. Just trying to stay on top of one tread is about all I can manage.
As for staying on topic, that's a really tricky one. I was browsing through some of our recent pages, and it's really hard to try and define what is and isn't on topic. Some things like discussions about books, or anime releases, or our astrological signs could probably go somewhere else, but most everything IS on topic in its own way.
It's teh same problem we ran into at AS---our 'RP' is really loosely defined. I don't think we could restrict ourselves to technically RP posts, (actual 'action' or story-telling) because teh discussions that come outta that are just as important to us.
But I do really understand that you want us to be a real part of teh community--and I know we'll all make an effort! We really aren't trying to be clique-y, we wanna get to know you too! We tend to just get all wrapped up in our own stuff.

And all that tends to happen (well, um, it would, but this is teh only case I've ever seen) when teh RP thread evolved outta a group of people in a discussion thread (ie. Stampers, P-Cat, Cyn, and I) who wanted to take teh discussion to a new level.

I understand teh issue with not being able to "relate" very well to others on teh board because of lack of interest. As I stated before, we do see SOME of you outside teh RP threads and have NO IDEA what your interests are beyond teh RP section. Hence teh reason for teh request for “on topic” threads.
It’s not about being kicked out or making you feel bad. Its about getting you out in teh other threads because we have an interest in getting to know you and have no desire to eat away space on your already booming RP threads in order to chit chat with you about stuff that doesn’t belong.
I’m sorry if my post offended you, it wasn’t meant to. It was meant to bring to light several issues that we feel needed to be addressed and since everyone else is too damn nice, I got teh job of being teh big bad witch. (Ill ban anyone that throws water on me)
When CLASP first started, we had NO IDEA that it would get this big. I’ve been here since day one and Ill tell you, it’s exceeded everyone’s wildest dreams. We pride ourselves on being a place for all to come and get away from teh disaster that teh ASMB have become and provide a place for people to come and have intelligent (and sometimes not so intelligent) conversation without teh "post police" breathing down your necks. You can speak your mind here with out fear of getting in trouble (as long as it’s done respectfully and with a bit of decorum) and feel free to use this place as you see fit. There were very few rules in teh beginning, and still are, but as we grow into a place that more and more people are stumbling upon and deciding to make their home on teh web, we are finding that a few (verrrry few) more rules need to be in place to keep teh peace and flow that we have spent teh past year establishing.
We would like to make this a place that EVERYONE feels comfortable in but if we don’t know you and have no way to get to know you, then this becomes an obstacle for us and I really don’t do hurdles too well. All teh fat gets in teh way and I don’t get enough lift off teh ground. It’s a mess that really isn’t for public viewing.
Now to address individual posts.
Emi-chan: teh posting about bringing in new characters and describing them until people know who they are and what they are there for is considered part of teh RP stuff. It’s if you’re talking about shows that have absolutely no bearing on your thread or anyone in it that wouldn’t be. Your concern about posting or lack of it is understood more than you know. There was a two month period where I posted almost nothing. On occasion so that people didn’t think I was abducted by aliens, but that’s about it. I wasn’t interested in anything that was going on at teh time. Don’t worry, just post when you feel teh need to say something or if you laugh at some ones comment, post a simple “*lol*” and let us know. At least well know what you think is funny so we can do it again!
Hina-chan: We have absolutely no desire to kick you out! After all, teh RP boards were created for you guys because you DIDN’T play like teh others on teh ASMB. We didn’t think that was fair, so we supplied you with a home and a family. Not playing like teh others is what keeps your threads so interesting and fun to read. It would get quite boring if all posts were mini novels and pretty much were teh same as every one else. We encourage individuality here, that won’t get you kicked out. Throwing water on me however, will.
XerBlade: If it’s not fun, then it’s up to you to make it fun. WE have no idea what you find fun if you don’t tell us. As for teh posting “OK” That was just to let us know that you read teh thread and I will clarify that in teh first post in a moment. It’s not asking that you agree, but to let us know that you have read teh thread and know about teh changes. Wither or not you choose to abide by those changes is up to you, but if you don’t, that’s not too nice to us, Saddy or fair to your fellow RPers is it? Right now it’s not a rule, just a request. We hate rules, don’t you?
Stampers: No worries. teh chattiness is a part of you, and it’s to be expected at TIMES and can even be included in an on “topic post” at teh end. We just need to make sure that teh posts aren’t completely random and that there isn’t page after page of them. As we said in teh beginning, we don’t expect people to stay “on topic” all teh time nor are we gonna enforce that. We just wanna see a bit MORE “on topic” posts and a bit more posting on other threads from some people.
Two things…<br>If there IS something that you would like to see here that interests you and it’s not here, let Saddy, me, or any one of teh other Global Moderators know and we will be more than happy to see what we can do to accommodate you. Its no fun to be some where that you have no interest in being and it’s my job to make sure that there’s several things that EVERYONE can be interested in. We really do wanna see our family happy and that’s what every single one of you are; family…who don’t wear pants.
You may wonder why I keep putting teh words “on topic” in quotes. It’s because we ARE NOT teh post police nor teh thought police and we understand that what may be off topic to some people may not be to you guys, as I explained in my first post. We also understand that someone’s comment may take you and another few people off on a mini tangent for a few posts and that’s perfectly acceptable, so long as it’s no more than a few posts.

If I DON'T throw a bucket of water at you, can I at least watch ya' TRY a hurdle.....?
Please, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!!??
[I've ALWAYS wanted-ta' KNOW if there was anybody ELSE out there who didn't have a "snowball's chance" of EVER gettin' over one o' those STUPID lil' "fences" without embarrassing themselves!!! I SURE never could....!*HAR!*]
As I said earlier, I WILL try harder to start posting in other threads as I can, as well as do better about staying more or less "on topic"--a School Project I was working on recently kinda' blew me outta teh water for a week or so, messing up my story-telling rhythm, and I kinda' got behind there.........
HEY! THERE'S a few "facts" about me you may NOT have already known!
[Ya' already KNEW I was a NUT, I gather.....!]

Not a problem, really. We dont wanna make you feel bad or make you feel like we singled you out. We wanna make you feel welcome...or more welcome than we have in teh past. This is teh only way to ensure that we can do that short of making you fill out surveys! There has also been SOME talk of making one of you a moderator incase one of teh Global Moderators arent here to unlock threads or there needs to have something in this folder dealt with. We are running into problems with this, proboards is about to come out with a super spiffy new version (SOOOO long awaited) that will make this place AWESOME Including a berfday bar and what not. If you go to www.proboards.com and to teh support board section, you can see what teh new boards are gonna be like. I know that I cant wait to have that stuff at InuyashaQuest! Back to my post..we have run into a few problems in creating a moderator, or folder mod. Once that is resolved, one of you may be a mod. Like I said, thats at teh table. Were not sure how it would work or what powers to grant, but it never hurts to prove youre mod material, right?

I'm just making my obligatory post so I don't get beat with a wet noodle ^_^ I agree with many of teh RPers in teh sense that many of our "off topic" posts are spawned from teh stories themselves. Granted, we do have many completely random posts and I believe from hence forth there will be a conscious effort to avoid them. Many of our posts can go into teh Anime Discussion thread. Understandably, this isn't teh 'reach out and touch other Clasp'ers' that was wanted, but it's a start. It'll also keep teh RP thread from being so flooded and insanely long! I know you already stated that we won't get beat-up like preschoolers on teh playground for some "off topic" posts, but I just wanted to make it clear that there will be some. Conversations are just created from teh RPing post and many people like to hear comments on their posts, a sort of review if you will. I'm sure everyone else agrees with me and thanks you and all teh mod'ies for your understanding and allowing us to take shelter in this pantless community

Whew, I was having flashbacks there for a minute. As soon as I read teh words "off topis posts" I started thinking oh god, not again. But now that I've some of teh responses and Kenna's responses to those responses I feel much better. Its true that our little rp has a tendency to get away from us. Its just that for most of us this is our only way to communicate with each other, and in many ways its become a second home. So when we get together, we tend to get a little chatty.
And I know I am guilty of teh ignoring other threads thing, with teh exception maybe of teh anime folder. But I get that way sometimes. Once I get into a certain routine, I just stick to it. I start feeling shy in places where I don't post often, which I know is totally stupid, but I never said I was smart. I will try to make more of an effort from now on, though. Starting today. I promise.

hey guys, I just wanted to thank everyone for being so cooperative, and add/reiterate a few things. just so it's clear, this isn't gonna be some drastically different thing now; it's just a way to keep y'all's favorite thread from growing too fast and thus being locked, and to encourage you to come outta there every once in awhile, 'cause y'all are some really fun people that we enjoy interacting with on teh rare occasions that we do.
and to emphasize what Kenna said, don't feel obligated to post anywhere just for teh sake of posting. we encourage you to create new threads for things that don't fit elsewhere, even if something you read in teh rp thread brings teh thought to mind. before you post something, try thinking of it in terms of clutter or non-clutter with respect to teh focus of that thread. if you think it might be clutter, maybe it's better suited for another thread or a brand new one... and believe me, no topic is too random or trivial. I guarantee you, if you started a thread called "Personal Life TMI", you'd get PLENTY of participants.
in conclusion, we understand time constraints and all, and we're not asking any of you to suddenly become teh post whores that Doose of the Pink Panties and Acid are (*winks*). we're just saying we'd like it if you'd venture out into teh pantsless abyss sometimes. =)
