That is AWESOME! I'm printing it out and tacking it to my wall! Yah! It is, isn't it! I was laughing from teh first paragraph--"I am teh Sanzo who walks by himself, and all idiots are alike to me. Die!" And then he shot them.

Now here's a little tribute to teh most over-worked and least apprecated member of teh Saiyuki ikkou--Hakuryu, otherwise known as Jeep: Ain't he a cutie? How can you tell when Goku really likes you? When he won't eat you, of course!: I think this is so cute, what with Jeep trying to get Goku up and moving: This is from volume 6. Poor Jeep isn't feeling to well. Notice teh teeny-tiny washcloth on his head!:

I wuv that he requested Souvlaki! It reminds me of Greece... And thinking about Greece made me realize that around this time last year, I was getting ready to go to Greece. And that's around teh time I brought Em in. Wow, I've been at this for over a year!

*****SPOILER*****
*****SPOILER***** Here's a little Gonou/Hakkai essay: Ever since I started reading Saiyuki, I have been a HUGE Hakkai fan. One of teh reasons, besides green-eyed bishiness, was his complex character. Outwardly cool, calm, and competent, he turns out to have teh darkest and most violent background. I mean, killing over a thousand people all by your lonesome ain’t your daily cup of tea, if you know what I mean! Even considering his provocation, teh kidnapping of his sister/lover for a youkai known for raping women then eating them when he got tired of them, teh then Gonou’s reaction IS a bit excessive. First he’s told that his sister/lover has been kidnapped(actually, she was given up by teh villagers so they wouldn’t lose “one of their own”), then next thing you know, BAM!, half of teh people in teh village are dead. Now why kill so many people? Any other man gonna rescue his beloved would kill only teh people in teh way of his quest. What provoked Gonou to do these deeds? To answer that, we hafta go back 500 years, to teh time when Goku was first brought to Heaven. There we meet several strangely familiar people. Now I don’t know ALL teh details, but these people ended up dead, and their souls started a journey of re-birth and death. 500 years later, we end up with teh fellows we all know and wuv. Throughout these 500 years, our heroes haven’t changed much. As Kanzeon Bosatsu puts it: “Nothing’s changed from five hundred years ago. However many times they die . . . . . However many times they’re reborn . . . . . If anyone tried to force them some way . . . . . . They’d bite their tongues and choke to death first.” But she’s wrong. One thing has changed. Except for Hakkai, what is one thing our guys have in common? teh answer is: a lack of family. Goku was born from a rock where teh earth’s energies gathered, Sanzo was found as an infant floating in a basket on a river(shades of Moses!), and yes, Goyjo does have a brother, but he’s actually a half-brother. We hear about his father and his birth-mother, but they are never scene. Hakkai, however, had a sister, even though they were both orphans. In fact, in an interview, series creator, Kazuya Minekura admitted that Hakkai and his sister were twins! Now here’s my theory: by some mistake of fate, Hakkai and his sister shared teh same soul. As a young child, separated from his sister, none of teh children liked Hakkai much because he never smiled. And when he was old enough to leave teh orphanage, Hakkai wondered if he’d ever found his other half. He did, and he and his sister were so close they became lovers. They spent three happy years this way, then she was kidnapped. Not only did Hakkai lose a sister and a lover, he lost a part of his soul. Perhaps this is why he lost control teh way he did. He no longer had teh capability to empathize with other people, having been hurt so badly all he could think about was getting that part of himself back, no matter what it took, even if that meant killing every living thing in his way. So, any comments?

You just described part of teh old Greek universal soul theory. teh part about soulmates existing because souls as they are passing through to teh physical realm are split in half, and end up as two different people, who are then soulmates (it's actually where we get teh original term soulmate from).

I mean, if I had a brother, even one I was very close to, I doubt I'd sleep with him.

In effect, they are teh same person.

And that's teh reason why I thought there had to be more to it than them being just brother and sister. In effect, they are teh same person. Well, THAT explains it as well as anything, P-cat.... [Of course, NONE of this is "addressed" in teh anime, for teh most part--You never learn that Kanan was his sister, and he ONLY killed teh DEMONS who got in his way--a THOUSAND of them!] Added NOTE: Which [teh anime version, I mean] works just FINE for me, as teh whole "sleeping with a sibling" thing STILL makes me uneasy, not matter WHAT teh explanation........ But this DOES bring teh character of Hakkai into sharper focus, even ignoring teh "sibling angle"! [And one CAN have a "soulmate" without teh sibling issue--that IS, after all, what a marriage is SUPPOSED to be, when it works and is held together with wuv--Just ask my Parents, 48 years going strong!]
